DescriptionChisum (Quigley Jr.) is an excellent example of an English Shepherd – a handsome and well-balanced shaded sable who is 11 years old. Intelligent and athletic (fast runner and strong swimmer) with natural herding ability, he is fearless and self-assured with all types of livestock, calm with other dogs, and an all-around lover of the family. He settles well at night but remains ready to spring into action – an ideal farm dog and family pet.

Chisum is 23 1/2 inches tall and weighs about 66 lbs. He is big boned. Bred by Julia Downs (Under the Rainbow), his bloodlines are Butcher, Partlow, Dalby, and Atchley.

Description: Tia was born on November 3, 2020. She was the second ES addition to my farm, in January of 2021. She came from Sycamore Springs ES in Maryland.

Tia is Miss Congeniality. She loves everyone. She is gentle and she respectfully comes up to you for a petting. She is also non-reactive to other dogs.
She has been in numerous dog classes since she was 9 wks old and has earned her CGC, CGCA, CGCU and her TD (Therapy Dog Certification). She has been in parades, dog friendly restaurants, big box stores, libraries, colleges and she frequently attends my church on Sunday mornings.

Since she was a puppy, Tia loves to explore on the farm, bringing back whatever she finds, and leaving it on the back porch. Hence, that’s how she got her registered name. She has been known to bring back such things as antler sheds, garbage can lids, (not mine, ones that blew in from big storm winds) and tools that I had misplaced in the yard. One day she even found some metal parts, “that come to find out” had fallen off a snowplow after a
neighbor plowed my workshop drive.

Tia has strong herding drive with large livestock, but is very calm with sheep. She will not back down to a cantankerous gander either. She likes to calmly lay on the back porch and survey the farm, but she will spring into action when the need arises.

Pedigree: Walnut Hill’s Best Buddy x SSS Lacey’s Shining Starr

Tia comes from Sycamore Springs in Maryland, and shares a bit of genetics with Iva. However, she is also the great granddaughter of John Wayne the Duke, bred by Bill Corley. Duke was a big boy, known to be a good help and companion on his owner’s farm in Alabama. He was known to stamp his puppies with his good traits.

Chisum hails from Kansas, from Julia Downs of Under the Rainbow English Shepherds. Julia bred for solid working dogs to send to homes and ranches. Chisum is the epitome of her breeding, and was sired by Julia’s foundation dog, her male Quigley. Sadly Julia passed away to Ovarian cancer a number of years ago. We hope to play a small part in preserving her legacy, through this breeding with Chisum.

Pairing Tia with Chisum brings in De Butcher’s (who was the breeder of Quigley Sr.) genetics, and is sure to produce well rounded, biddable, all around dogs that excel at whatever they put a paw to.
